HALA Ventures has announced its lead investment in a UAE-based fintech startup as part of a $5 million Series A round. The funding will be used to expand the company’s digital infrastructure and regional footprint.

HALA Ventures Leads $5M Series A in UAE-based Fintech Startup

The Saudi-based “e-commerce shipping easier” platform, Torod announced the closing of its Seed round at SAR 5 million ($1.33 million), led by IMPACT46 with the participation of local investors including Hala Venture & Seedra Venture. 

Founded in early 2022 by Faisal Almaklas and Ammar Almaatouq, bringing together deep expertise in e-commerce & logistics spaces, enabling fast and cost-effective shipping for D2C retailers with the ability to manage & track the orders through a single interface by Torod.

Torod lies in serving the pain points in the transportation and logistics cycle as the result of the extensive growth of the e-commerce space. By providing an encompassing post-order management experience, Torod is easing the burden of merchants' supply chain. The platform technology, helps merchants seamlessly choose the best method suited for the shipment from a wide range of courier partners local and international including SPL, J&T, SMSA & DHL, with real-time order tracking and returns management. 

“Post the covid pandemic the number of online buyers jumped and many businesses moved to online selling and that comes with a higher expectation from the shoppers for good delivery service. With the freshly infused capital, Torod is looking to deploy it to accelerate its mission of enabling a fast and cost-effective shipping process for D2C retailers and enhancing the post-order experience for the merchants and the consumer on another hand.

Torod raises $1.33 million Seed round led by IMPACT46

Saudi-based on-demand payment and spend management platform Sanad Cash, Inc. has raised a $1.6 million Seed round with participation from Impact46 seed fund, BIM ventures, Hala ventures, Derayah ventures, and a distinguished list of angel investors in KSA.

Sanad Cash was founded in 2020 by Sultan Alhugail, Mahmoud Iswiad, and Shorhabel Ghoneim and they are batch one alumni from Sanabil 500 accelerator. Sanad Cash offers small to medium-sized businesses (SMBS) and corporates a SaaS platform to help them track all of their spendings, and initiate on-demand payments for employees and others with just a few clicks.

“Sanad Cash vision is to introduce one a stop shop for all SMBs day to day financials by offering them global standard digital tools at a reasonable cost. Our partnerships with existing financial institutions will help us to introduce what we call an all-in-one new financial system that includes a corporate card, a spend management software, and a business account in one easy dashboard,” Says Mahmoud Iswiad, co-founder and CEO of Sanad Cash. 

“SMBs are the nerve of our economy and they represent not less than 90 per cent of business and more than 50 per cent of the employment in Saudi Arabia. We are witnessing a real need in KSA SMBs ecosystem to adopt more digital tools and move towards a cashless society which is a main pillar of the kingdom 2030 vision,” Says Sultan Al-Hugial, co-founder and chief commercial officer.

Saudi fintech Sanad Cash raises $1.6 million Seed round

Saudi Arabia-based buy now pay later (BNPL) startup Tamara, has secured a $6 million (SAR 22.5 million) seed round led by Impact46 with participation from Vision Ventures, Wealth Well, Seedra, Khwarizmi, Hala, and Nama, along with multiple family offices. This marks the largest seed round ever raised by a Saudi Arabian startup.

Founded by Abdulmajeed Alsukhan and Turki Bin Zarah and Abdulmohsen Albabtain, Tamara is the first Saudi Arabian fintech startup to acquire a sandbox licence to operate as a BNPL platform.

The fresh funds will help Tamra accelerate its growth plans as well as expand across Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Tamara’s top partners include: Namshi, Whites, Floward, Saif Gallery, Toys R Us in addition to the e-commerce enablers: Salla and Zid. The company has offices in Germany, UAE and Vietnam.

“We enable merchants to grow their sales and entice their customers with our buy now pay later and installment services that do not include any fees the customer has to pay. We strongly believe Tamara will be a game-changer for both merchants and customers. It will positively re-shape the purchasing power in the market”, said Abdulmajeed Alsukhan, CEO and co-founder of Tamara.

Tamara raises $6 million in seed funding

UAE-based Immersive video mobile app 360VUZ, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding as part of a bridge round from Knollwood, Impact46, and DAI. This latest investment brings the startup’s total funding raised to date to $8.4 million. According to Crunchbase, the company raised $7.2 million in its Series A round. 

Other investors include Shorooq Partners, KBW Ventures, Media Visions, AlTouq Group, Vision Ventures, Hala Ventures, 500Startups, Magnus Olsson, Samih Toukan, Jonathan Labin, DTEC Ventures, Plug and Play Ventures, Al Rashid family and other strategic angel investors.

Founded in 2017, The 360VUZ Teleporter mobile app has been adopted in more than 25 countries with a significant increase in user engagement and revenues month over month. The app leverages immersive media such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and extended reality (XR) to disrupt the telecommunications market.

In Q3 2020, 360VUZ signed agreements with more than 25 new telecoms companies from around the world covering markets such as the UK, Spain, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kuwait, Turkey, Morocco, Algeria, and South Africa. The new agreements were aimed to ease out the subscription for 360VUZ users around the globe and enhance their immersive experience.
